Rhode Island Loses Statehood

AP – 15 February 2012. Federal lawmakers in both the House of Reprehensibles and the Senate voted nearly unanimously today to revoke the State Charter of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations. President Barack Obama wasted no time in approving this drastic measure. This bold move came after a three-day debate as to what to do after the Rhode Island State Police rounded up 53 of the 75 Representatives and 23 of the 38 Senators in a sting that has never before been seen outside of illegal coups, takeovers, or revolution. Six mayors were arrested, and two have fled the country. Sixteen warrants have been issued for the arrest of eight more Representatives and eight State Senators. The Governor and Lieutenant Governor have both been presumed to have fled the country, as their whereabouts are unknown at this time. Warrants for questioning have been issued for the Governor and Lieutenant Governor.
Captain Roger Daly of the Federal Bureau of Investigation has told this reporter “the government of Rhode Island is more corrupt than any in the history of the United States. Electing and appointing new officials in a well-watched election couldn't possibly save Rhode Island's people from the corruption. The Federal Government made the right move in its revocation of Rhode Island's State Charter, arresting the suspected perpetrators, and issuing these warrants.”
Connecticut and Massachusetts have both been assigned parts of Rhode Island's existing infrastructure and law enforcement duties. In the last week since the revocation, violent and financial crime has dropped seventy five and sixty percent, respectively. Burden of education responsibility has not been definitely assigned. Alaska has volunteered to send a team appointed from its Board of Education to supervise the reformation of schooling. Classes will continue as normal, and all teachers will be compensated.
Former Mayor of Providence Vincent “Buddy” Cianci, Jr., was taken into protective custody, though charges have not been raised against this former mayor and felon. Cianci was not available for an interview. Cianci has not held office for some time, but has hosted an occasional television slot on WJAR-TV News as the Political and Ethics Commentator.
In an interview, Secretary of State of the United States of America, Hilary Rodham Clinton, said that “the flag shall remain the same. North and South California will be split, and new States created from the two Californias.” Rumor has it that this splitting of California came about as a result of the clashes between environmentalist Northern California and industrial Southern California and the Federal Government's obligation to keep the peace. The Secretary would not comment on this.
